What was u.comms tasked with?
To develop and deliver a two-day hands-on workshop for regional specialists of the State Employment Service (SES), covering effective media relations, SMM strategy, and public speaking.
The key challenge was to tailor the training to the participants’ actual needs, identified through a pre-training survey, and equip public-sector professionals with practical tools to turn official social media channels into fully fledged owned media platforms.
Training program and practical tools
The two-day intensive was led by Ulyana Kolodii, founder of u.comms. The program combined practical lectures with memes, interactive exercises, and hands-on assignments to keep participants engaged and turn theory into practice.
SMM strategy and navigating the media landscape
Participants explored current communication trends, social media rules and no-go areas for public institutions, effective media pitching techniques, and ways to create adaptable content for different audiences.
Public speaking and personal presentation for public-sector professionals
A dedicated module focused on building confident self-presentation, overcoming the fear of public speaking, and handling challenging situations when communicating with journalists and the public.
